Ask ten people to picture a waffle and you will get ten different answers. At Waffle Bliss in Surrey, ours is a triangle Belgian waffle, and it is eggless. This guide explains what that means, how it compares with other waffle styles you may have seen around town, and which flavours to order when you visit.
What is a Belgian waffle?
"Belgian waffle" describes a thick waffle with a deep grid. Those deep pockets matter: they give you crisp edges and ridges on the outside, a soft centre inside, and plenty of room for sauces, spreads and toppings to settle in. Compared with a thin diner-style waffle, a Belgian waffle is heartier and holds up better under ice cream.
Why triangles?
Our Belgian waffles come in triangle pieces rather than one big round or square. The shape is practical as well as pretty:
- Easy to share. Wedges are simple to pass around the table.
- More edges. Every point and side is a crisp corner.
- Better for toppings. Sauces, crumbles and fruit sit neatly on each piece, so every bite gets some.
- Easy to eat. Pick up a wedge with a fork or your fingers.
What makes our waffles eggless
Classic waffle batter usually relies on eggs. Our menu is egg-free, including our waffle batter, so guests who avoid eggs for dietary, religious or personal reasons can order freely. Being eggless does not mean allergen-free, though: our waffles contain wheat and dairy, and many toppings contain nuts. Please tell our team about any allergies when you order, or call (604) 503-0153.
Triangle Belgian waffles vs other styles
You will see a few waffle styles at dessert spots across Surrey. Here is how ours compare:
- Triangle Belgian waffles (ours): thick, deep-pocketed, crisp outside and soft inside, served in wedges with ice cream or folded into a waffle sandwich.
- Bubble waffles: a sheet of round, egg-shaped bubbles, usually rolled into a cone. Traditional batter includes egg, which is where the name "egg waffle" comes from. We do not serve bubble waffles.
- Thin round waffles: lighter and crisper, more of a breakfast plate than a dessert.
If you like a waffle with real substance that still stays crisp under a scoop of ice cream, the triangle Belgian style is the one.
Our triangle Belgian waffles with ice cream
Each one is pressed hot to order and served with ice cream and toppings:
- Strawberry Shortcake: fruity, creamy and a little nostalgic.
- Dubai Kunafa Royale: crunchy kunafa, pistachio and chocolate, and one of our bestsellers.
- Lotus Biscoff Crush: caramelised cookie flavour with crunch in every bite.
- Choco Lava Delight: for the all-chocolate crowd.
- Red Velvet Swirl: rich and pretty.
- Tiramisu Dream Delight and Cappuccino Mocha Fusion: for coffee-dessert fans.
- Coconut Cream, Nutella Strawberry and Nutella Banana: lighter, fruit-forward picks.
